Chennai 2 day Itinerary can be overwhelming, as the city is the fourth biggest metropolis in India. A cultural destination home to more than 20 temples, Madras (as it was known before) is a paradise for deities. The city is also home to water sports and vibrant nightlife. A 3-hour drive to Pondicherry (Pondy) is a must. Travel on a local bus or hire a local driver. Tourists visiting Pondy usually stay over in Chennai for a day and take in the tourist attractions.

The Ideal Season For A Trip To Chennai

Chennai is warm and humid, and the heat can get uncomfortable in the summers. South India experiences its coldest and driest months between December and March. Avoiding June through August is recommended due to frequent floods.

Day 1

On your first day, visit Kapaleeshwarar Temple - one of the busiest attractions in Chennai. This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva, built in the seventh century. The temple is known for its vibrant Dravidian and Vijayanagara style architecture.

Next, visit Marina Beach - the longest beach in India. A stroll here in the early morning is an excellent way to recharge before you start your Chennai itinerary. Build sand castles, take in the stunning sunrise or alleviate your mood by taking in the pretty skyline. The beach offers a variety of water sports activities, satiate your appetite with the numerous foodcourts, fly some kites and much more.

Visit Elliot's Beach to move away from Chennai's hectic city life. The location oozes serening and is affectionately referred to by locals as "Bessie." Travellers also like to sunbathe on this beach.
 

Day 2

Start the day at Sri Parthasarathy Temple, located in Chennai's Triplicane neighbourhood. One of the most visited temples in Tamilnadu and a highlight of any trip to Chennai.

Once done with Chennai, Pondicherry Itinerary will start with a drive on the scenic ocean road and once you reach Pondy, go to Paradise Beach - a haven for travellers looking to unwind. Visit the Aurobindo Ashram, a place of spiritual realisation.
